About Community Help
The publication (which began as Rural Help) was initiated by the Rural Resources Unit of MAF Policy in 1992 and arose from a concern that rural people were disadvantaged by lack of information and access to services.
Rural Help was a publication produced with the aim of improving the availability of information to country people and assisting them to overcome problems they may be faced with.
Soon after, many people in a variety of agencies began to realise the immense value that such a publication would have for the urban community as well. Consequently following editions were expanded to include additional urban content and the publication is now published as Community Help which reflects its value to the wider community.
Ron McPhail, managing director of CR McPhail Ltd, is the Editor and publisher of Community Help. In business since 1992, CR McPhail not only produces specialist directories including Community Help, but the company also provides special interest tours, cultural tours and professional services for groups, individuals, travel agents, business and government organisations in the farming and agricultural industry.
